Kitchen & Dining Room Pass Through

Kitchen-Dining-Room-Remodeling-Project-Morristown-New Jersey-Residential-Remodeling-Contractor

A typical 1970's Kitchen and Dining Room Configuration, although a small renovation was completed within the past 5 years with new cabinets. The new homeowner wanted to change the kitchen layout to open the two rooms. Now entertaining is easy and both rooms look and feel larger without the dividing wall. Fall 2013.

2 Story Addition

Livingston-Home-Remodeling-Project-Joe-Shadel-General-Contracting

This home in Livingston was just some old house in the woods.  We built a 2 story addition. Family room on the first floor with a full basement below and a master bedroom above.  Circa 1989

Major Renovations

Upper-Montclair-Family-Room-Kitchen-Addition-Master-Bedroom-Add-A-Level

A very old home in Upper Montclair with a tiny kitchen and an even smaller family room and no master bedroom. Previously the home had suffered from a fire and subsequent water damage from the 3rd floor on down. We bumped out the back of the house and built a family room/ kitchen addition.  As we were fixing the fire damage on the third floor caused by just another disgruntled teenager (lol) we changed the roof line to handle a master bedroom. Circa 1994

Kitchen Facelift

Morristown-Kitchen-Gets-A-Facelift

We gave this 1970's Morristown Kitchen a facelift by repurposing the peninsula into the island and adding book shelves, installing a porcelain tile floor, new appliances, crown molding and much more. Spring 2013.

Bathroom Renovation

A typical original first floor bathroom in an old home in Upper Montclair. We gutted this plaster & lath down to the framing, reinforced the floor framing, ran all new electrical, all new plumbing, fixtures, vanity, floor, walls, ceiling and window.  Circa 1991.

Custom French Doors

Arched-French-Door-Replacement-Peapack-Gladstone-NJ-Joe-Shadel-General-Contracting

We replaced the two arched door units on both sides of the front entrance of this Peapack, NJ home. The doors had rotted out at the bottom because the sprinkler system sprayed water on them everyday. Under one door the framing had to be replaced because that had rotted as well. What made this project a challenge was that we had to stay exactly within the same opening that existed so as not to have to add to or repair the exterior stucco or have to remake the custom interior molding. It worked out perfectly.  We used aluminum exterior glad doors to prevent the doors from rotting. Circa 2006.

2nd Story Side Deck

Cedar-Deck-Roxbury-Landing-NJ-Joe-Shadel-General-Contracting

A modest home in Roxbury had the builders original side landing and steps. We removed the steps and build a beautiful cedar deck with custom cedar railings.

3 Season Room

New-Vernon-Remodel-Licensed-Contractors-Remodeling-Morris-County-Morristown-Morris-Plains-Randolph

We completely rebuilt this screened in porch in New Vernon and even turned it into a 3 Season Room while we were at it. We just added closed cell insulation below the floor and water proof insulation in the ceiling. Spring/Summer 2014.

Custom Home

Mantoloking-Beach-House-Construction-Survived-Hurricane-Sandy

This was the project of a lifetime. This 7000 square foot home took 2-1/2 years. Building a home this size in the sand and on the ocean is extremely challenging.  I worked with the homeower from the very beginning, searching for an architect to the installation of the last shrub. It was also nice to be working right on the ocean. Important to note is that this home did not suffer any damage from Hurricane Sandy.  Can't say that for their other Mantoloking neighbors.  Circa 1999-2002.

Custom Home

I framed this 10,000 square foot Livingstone, NJ home with a Norwegian framing crew. To say it was challenging is an understatment. Circa 1996.

I was hired to take over the management of this home after the owner needed to replace the builder and architect. They both messed up royally. We had to reframe and reinforce all the floors, some walls, redo plumbing, rerun electrical wires, just to move forward. Circa 2003.
